B.C. TV icon Red Robinson has died aged 86.
Robinson's daughters Kellie and Sherrie shared the news on their father's Facebook page on Saturday night.
They said their father died at 8:15 am on Saturday morning.M. after a short illness.
"Most people knew our father as a rock 'n' roll DJ, TV personality, advertising agency owner, voice talent, or through his philanthropic work," they wrote. "He was special in many ways, but he was a devoted father and grandfather to us, a loving husband to our late mother Carole, and a loyal friend to all."
Robinson was only 17 when he started working in the radio industry.
Was there when Elvis stopped in Vancouver on August 31, 1957. He was the announcer when the Beatles played in Vancouver on August 22, 1964.
A commemoration of his life should soon be announced, said his daughters.
"We can't think of a better way to sum up Dad's life than in the words of one of his favorite Elvis songs, If I Can Dream.
“There's a candle waving in the dark... and if I can think, if I can speak, if I can stand, if I can walk... as long as I can dream, oh yes, please make my dream come true... Right now ."
